Basho, the 'father' of hokku (later called 'haiku' by Shiki) had a small 'hut' built for him, and nearby planted a banana tree. It was in this rustic and calm environment that he composed, taught, and wrote about this small form of poetry with his friends.
In that same spirit, this is a quiet place, under the umbrella leaves of the Internet, built to further the enjoyment of haiku all related Japanese forms. Pull up a chair, and focus on the work of haiku poets from around the world.
The site will be developing over the next days and weeks. Please return often.
